For the relationships that ended unresolved, the lovers that ghosted, or the heartbreak that never healed, indie rock crew Citris present a cathartic track aptly titled “Driving Me Crazy.” The song premiered via NPR Music early last month, who hailed it as a messy track, “but hey, aren’t breakups?”
The song starts off slow and deliberate, unpacking the heartbreak with an acoustic accompaniment. Once vocalist Angelina Torreano reaches the chorus, the rhythm section kicks in, filling out the negative space with purposeful plucks and feedback that sneaks up. By the end of the track, the tune becomes less sorrowful and more cheeky, mimicking the typical arc of a breakup.
